From the West Coast to the East Coast, Aklimatize and Chris Lima will be dropping live sets through Soundwave Vancouver Island, Doright! Toronto, the Goods Montreal, Elevations New York and Duo Tone Festival Kelowna, supporting and spreading the message for the first two Future Elements 12" EP releases, the Aklimatize EP (FER6001) and the MO Project EP (FER7002) both being released early September 2007.
Two sets deep, Aklimatize and Chris Lima headed up a star-studded lineup at the three day 24/7 Soundwave Festival on Vancouver Island, sharing the same main stage as international veterans like T-Power and Dr. Alex Patterson of the Orb and alongside the likes of local favorites Ill-esha & the Perfect Circuit, Dosha, and Hightower.
On the same soil as Captain James Cook of the British Navy first set foot in 1778, these two pulled out the MPD-24's, 4 turntables, Joni Love on flute and performed a serious 2 hour show as the sun set into the Pacific Ocean just 100 feet away...

Future Elements is proud to announce that Dime la Verdad by Aklimatize has been licensed to Do Right! Music for their forthcoming Required Listening 2 CD compilation! Do Right! label manager John Kong was so impressed with the tune, that he's charted it at number one on his Do Right! Music Chart in this month's issue of the slick and classy Straight No Chaser magazine. So what's the word on the street?...

Hando Jin, aka Kevin Mah, one half of Vancouver's future funk duo known as The Function, cites Bernie Worrell, Bootsy Collins and Roy Ayers as some of his most influential artists. These influences come through in his music and on stage, where he can often be spotted sporting some outrageous hat and some retro funk glasses that could just as easily be from Holt Renfrew as the Salvation Army bargain bin. Alongside his partner, vocalist and songwriter Roxy Rollin, Hando Jin performs as The Function and lays down the future funk of yesteryear with the classic groove of tomorrow.
Wednesday night, June 27th, at the Fairview Pub, The Function will perform original material, covers and improvised songs with the addition of Chris Davis of M.O. (Modus Operandi) on trumpet and other special guests. Doors are at 9:00 PM and cover is only $5.00 and well worth it.

M.O. (Modus Operandi) is one of the hottest live acts in Vancouver future music scene. The M.O. project consists of three musicians Kevin Mah (The Function), Chris Davis (independent artist) and Myles Bigelow (Maraca, 1 Luv, Alexis Puentes, K-OS). All three members are not only well-educated musicians but skilled producers as well. Their common musical interests overlap and intertwine as they perform as the high-energy group known as M.O.
The M.O. sound is drawn from Jazz, Hip Hop, Breakbeat, Soul, Funk, World, Latin and many other groove based music styles. M.O.'s performances are always improvised and truly live with every performance carrying it's own unique highlights. This group utilizes not only their instruments (Trumpet, Keys and Percussion) but each run their own lap tops in addition to various synths and drum machines to form a synthesis of live and layered love. With their full length LP almost complete, and an EP in the works with local label Future Elements, M.O. is truly pushing their future funk sound to a whole new level.
