URBAN WELL 1516 YEW ST. PRESENTED BY JAZZ DIRECTIONS

more info on JAZZ BOOGIE @ clubzone.com jazzdirections.com

Despite the torrential rain, over 150 people showed up at the Urban Well on Friday night showing their support for Future Elements and Jazz Boogie. DJ Zeida opened the session with his compound Jazz and Hip Hop styles as people warmed up and settled into their wine and conversation. At around 11 pm as the buzz grew, Morganic pounced on the decks, pounding out remixes by Canadian artists Aklimatize and Moonstarr and later mixing in Amalgama riddims and classic Kyoto Jazz Massive to keep it Nu and broken. At Midnight, Future Elements Recordings artist The Function sauntered onto the floor. With Kevin Mah on keys and laptop, Roxy Bebe adding silk to the vocals, and joined by special guest Latin percussionist Miles Bigelow, put the event into full swing. Swaggering to the beats, Aklimatize mounted the decks and played out the remainder of the night, adding bass and dub where time can only exist for angular, irrational numbers. Beats and bounce now in full tilt, Aklimatize schools the floor with a modicum of every dance genre, playing rarities and CDRs from all over the world. LAL, Vanguardia Sonora, John Beltran, Ayro, Black Top and other unrecognized tracks shows us why eccentric artists like Aklimatize are as accessible as they are unique. His selecta is always Future and Nu, commanding respect from dance junkies and music geeks. Towards another world beyond the ersatz dance music of radio and mainstream club life, Jazz Boogie and Future Elements brings us aboard their mother ship of future soul and jazz sounds. " This is Commander Tom to ground control, I'm ready for re-entry".
